The IB French students produced four films that were set in different neighborhoods in Rio. Two films were chosen to compete for the awards of Best Movie, Best Actor and Best Actress in an International Film Competition for French Students held at the Overseas School in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

"CAMBIO VERDE" - GREEN EXCHANGE

The 8th Grade project consists of exchanging recyclable trash that EA community members bring for food. Middle School students trained community members to select, clean and separate the trash. So many workers at Escola Americana were enthusiastic about the project that a food drive is being held this coming week (May19 – May 23) to be sure that enough food is available for exchange.

Much Continued Success to Julia Averbuck!

Escola Americana students' talents and academic abilities are recognized by universities worldwide. This year our students were accepted to 40 colleges and universities in the United States, 5 in Canada, 3 in Europe. They received 13 conditional offers (pending IB exam results) in the UK and were offered over US$ 600,000 in scholarships. The story of one of our seniors deserves special mention. Julia Averbuck was accepted to Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, University of Chicago and Yale, which she will be attending.
